House Music : Lesson 7

It's been AGES since I last wrote something about "My House Lesson Sessions". Just in case you missed my previous lessons, you can review it all by clicking here --> Lesson 1, Lesson 2, Lesson 3 , Lesson 4, Lesson 5 , and Lesson 6.

Imagine it's my 7th Lesson and up for today is a genre called Dubstep. I know you've heard alot of electronica genres but this one has a distinctly sizzling drum and bass beat. It's relatively new in the electronica scene as well.

So what on the world is Dubstep?

It's a genre of electronic dance music that has its roots in London's UK garage scene. Musically, dubstep is distinguished by its dark mood, sparse rhythms, and emphasis on bass.

The only real differences between Dubstep and and drum and bass is the tempo, the prioritization of sub bass and the drugs involved (okay I just assumed that last part). That's it.

Dubstep is new school garage, but parts of it are new school drum and bass (dnb) and jungle as well. It's not something completely seperate from dnb at all, in fact a lot of the producers state dnb producers are big influences and loads are junglists themselves.

Here's an excellent sample of a real glitchy type beat of Dubstep.

Great direct evolution of garage huh? Plain and simple. And I'm out...Take care everyone! Good vibes!

What next?
